This image was taken whilst travelling in far north Queensland while camped on the banks of the Einasleigh River.

I took inspiration for this collection from Australian Bush poet Terry Piggott who wrote a poem titled Lady of The Lakes in the memory of a ‘Lady’, (A gold fossicker), who was extremely accomplished in the way of fossicking back in the Gold Rush days here in Australia.

She was known to all, as The Lady of the Lakes, a name she gained from her choice of places to fossick for gold, always on or around Lakes, including the great Salt Lakes.

A strong formidable woman, and a trailblazer for other women fossickers of that time.
